Ward Meeting–Some Internet Info

My bishop asked me to talk today in a combined Relief Society, Priesthood, and Youth meeting about good resources on the Internet.

I decided to split the discussion into three areas:

  • Avoiding the Bad
  • Finding the Good
  • Adding to the Good

I created a site that has links to everything I showed and discussed as well as the slides I used.  It might be a little out of context since you likely were not in attendance, but maybe you’ll find something helpful there too.  Enjoy!

For those that like to get information via podcast, I highly recommend the Internet Safety Podcast:

Dr. Charles Knutson and Joe Brockbank from BYU discuss and define all those things that especially parents need to know about internet safety. All in “non-geek speak” so it’s understandable.

Thank you for posting this excellent information. Recently I installed a new PC with a Vista 64-bit operating system. I had used K-9 web protection in the past but it was not compatible with my new OS. I’m now using OpenDNS which offers an even higher level of protection since I set it up to run through my router.
