Guidelines for Participating in Online Conversations about the Church
The top story on the LDS Public Affairs Newsroom today is “Mormons Encouraged to Share Personal Perspectives Online to Explain Their Faith.” It references the message from Elder M. Russell Ballard on sharing the gospel using the Internet from the July 2008 issue of the Ensign.
A new page on the Newsroom site provides guidelines for Latter-day Saints participating in online conversations about the Church. Latter-day Saints are encouraged to share personal perspectives to explain the Church and what it’s like to be a member.
Be sure to check out Elder Ballard’s video clip on YouTube where he discusses ways members can share their testimony of the gospel using the Internet.

Just wanted to say I was really inspired by the article, I love the way the church embraces technology as a medium for sharing the gospel, and I’m excited to ‘Join The Conversation’ and have started my own blog, to document some of my life’s experiences with the church. The new post seems to contradict what is in the rights and useage area of the newsroom:
Rights area:
” You may not post material from this site on another web site or on a computer network without our permission.”
New posting on the church site:
The Newsroom Website is a great resource to find content that you can reuse in your own blog, video, social networking page, etc. Available content includes:
• Links to news stories about the Church
• News released by the Church
• Commentary on issues impacting the Church
• Public issues statements
• Background material
• Statistics
• Video
• Audio
• Photos
Are there plans to make that more clear, since most people won’t check the rights area and will begin lifting photos and such for their sites? Or can we use them now? Just want to make sure I don’t break any rules.
